The American Folklore Society. I joined in 1960 and have served in several capacities.

I was Librarian and then Head of the Archive of Folk Song/Culture at the Library of Congress 1963-1998

My first LP with The Folksmiths was on Folkways Records. Now available on CD.

My solo LPs from 1970-1978 are available on Folk-Legacy Records.

In 1964 I was a founding member and subsequently President, etc., of the Folklore Society of Greater Washington

I am the compiler of "The Songfinder" column of Sing Out! magazine

I totally discovered folk music while I was a student at Oberlin College in Ohio 1953-57

Then I did serious graduate work in folklore and ethnomusicology at Indiana University in Bloomington (1957-63)
